Aggressive estate agents

Peter ended up taping his estate agent admitting she had been lying to him, in a bid to stop the agent’s lawyers suing him for disputed fees.

Peter disagreed with the fees the agent – who worked for an aggressive national chain – was insisting he had to pay them, and the agent deliberately lied to make Peter think the whole deal would fall through unless he paid out.

Peter discovered proof the agent was lying, and taped a phone call where he confronted her with the evidence. When the agent’s lawyers sent him an intimidating letter threatening to sue him for the extra fees, he replied he had a tape of their agent trying to commit fraud – obtaining financial advantage by deception – and the lawyers dropped the case.
