If you’re in a disagreement over a structural matter related to your home then you may need a chartered Building Surveyor to give you an independent view and produce a comprehensive report to help you fight your corner. An experienced Chartered Building Surveyor can also act as an Expert Witness to help resolve your dispute.

You will be able to discuss your situation in much more detail and get an independent view as to what your options are. Your Expert Witness will if needed produce a comprehensive report outlining his or her opinions in the matter and if necessary will be able to follow this right through to a court appearance. Ending up in court is of course the last place that you ever want to be but hopefully the involvement of an Expert Witness at an early stage could help to avoid this. It will be important to fully explore the possibilities of mediation and arbitration before booking a date in court.
